Blood pressure (BP) is a measure of the force of blood against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps it around your body. It is typically measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and is expressed as two numbers: systolic pressure over diastolic pressure.

  1. Systolic Pressure: This is the higher of the two numbers and represents the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats and pumps blood into the arteries.

  2. Diastolic Pressure: This is the lower of the two numbers and represents the pressure in your arteries when your heart is at rest between beats.

The standard unit for measuring blood pressure is millimeters of mercury (mmHg). A normal blood pressure reading is usually around 120/80 mmHg. Here’s what different blood pressure readings can indicate:

  • Normal: Less than 120/80 mmHg
  • Elevated: 120-129/<80 mmHg
  • Hypertension Stage 1: 130-139/80-89 mmHg
  • Hypertension Stage 2: 140 or higher/90 or higher mmHg
  • Hypertensive Crisis: Higher than 180/higher than 120 mmHg

Symptoms of high blood pressure (hypertension) are often not noticeable, which is why it’s often referred to as a “silent killer.” However, extremely high blood pressure may cause the following symptoms:

  1. Headaches: Particularly in the back of the head, especially in the morning.

  2. Nosebleeds: Occasionally, high blood pressure can cause nosebleeds.

  3. Shortness of Breath: You may experience difficulty breathing.

  4. Chest Pain: This can occur, especially during physical activity.

  5. Visual Changes: Blurred vision or seeing spots may occur.

It’s important to note that these symptoms are not specific to high blood pressure and can be caused by other medical conditions. The only way to know your blood pressure for sure is to have it measured by a healthcare professional using a blood pressure cuff or monitor.

It’s also worth mentioning that low blood pressure (hypotension) can have symptoms as well, including:

  1. Dizziness or lightheadedness
  2. Fainting (syncope)
  3. Blurred vision
  4. Nausea
  5. Fatigue

If you have concerns about your blood pressure or experience any of these symptoms, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider for a proper evaluation and guidance on managing your blood pressure. High blood pressure, if left untreated, can lead to serious health complications, including heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems.

Homeopathy has a lot of drugs that are useful in treating blood pressure. In chronic conditions these drugs helps in maintaining the blood presssure which can pause the further complications and can improve the condition of the patient .
